Overview:The October 2021 Windows update (KB5006670) breaks connection to a Home network shared printer. Another hasty patch to stop a new threat and breaks what was working. Here is some info in how to fix this problem. If you don’t use a shared printer over a home network then you need to do nothing. If the client PCs (ones without the printer and trying to share the printer installed on another PC) is not Windows 10, this update will not affect them. The update affects only client PCs that are Windows 10 and updated with KB5006670. If the client PC is Windows 10 version 21H1 you need to download and install this registry fix at the link below: Registry fix If the client PC is Windows 10 version 20H2 you need to replace Win32spl.dll (version 10.0.19041. 1288) in the System32 folder with Win32spl.dll (version 10.0.19041. 1237). This requires using the command prompt in Recovery mode. Ask if you need help. You can download the 10.0.19041. 1237 version here: Win32spl.dll ver. 10.0.19041.1237 If you don’t use share printing now, chances are Microsoft will fix this in the near future and won’t be a problem in the future.
