iPhone – Notifications When Silent
Overview:
We all go places where we are asked to silence our phone so the ringing won’t disturb others, but we’re expecting an important call. You can turn off the ringer and have the phone vibrate for incoming calls. This doesn’t always work as a phone vibrating on a table top still creates a disturbance. In such situations you need to turn the ringer and vibrate functions off, which leaves you no way to know when an incoming call or text arrives. iPhones have a setting to flash a LED light to announce a new call or text when the phone is silence and off. Instructions how to engage this function and how it works follow.
iPhone LED Flash Alerts
• To turn on LED Flash Alerts, select Settings from the Home Screen.
• Scroll down the Settings page and select Accessibility.
• Scroll down the Accessibility settings page and select Audio/Visual.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the Audio/Visual settings page to LED Flash for Alerts.
• Slide the switch next to LED Flash for Alerts to turn it on (switch will turn green).
• When the LED Flash for Alerts is turned on a new setting will appear below it, Flash on Silent.
• Flash on Silent should already be turned on (green). If not, then turn it on.
• Exit from the settings.
LED Flash for Alerts must be On to use the Flash on Silent function. This means the LED will flash on incoming calls and texts even if the phone rings.
The phone must be set to silent and the phone off for the Flash on Silent function to work.
The LED flash will come from the flash next the camera lens on the back of the phone. To use Flash on Silent function, turn the phone face down so you will see the flash when an incoming call or text occurs.
