Hi All,
This is the time of year many online orders for merchandise are being made and especially this year of staying home. This results in many people waiting on something being shipped to them. Perfect setup for hackers: Send text messages that appear to come from a well-known shipping company and include a link to my special web site that will download my malware that will harvest the person’s ids, password, and credit card info. Since most people are expecting a shipment and don’t remember or know which shipper is really being used, they will click the link without thinking about…..BAM, their personal info has just been stolen.
DO NOT CLICK LINKS FOR UNKOWN SENDERS – no matter where they occur, web page, email, or text.
If a real shipping company sends you a text about your shipment, it will be notification only and will NOT require clicking a link.
There has been a sharp increase in these types of Phishing attacks lately and with the use of automatic texters, all phones can receive these Phishing texts.
Be careful what you touch applies to text message links.
