Moving Files Between iPhone and Windows PC
Overview:
iPhone (Apple) and Windows (Microsoft) have never played well with each other which makes sharing files between the two devices difficult. There have been some advances such that you can download photos/videos from your iPhone to your Windows PC without additional software or internet access. If you desire to upload photos/videos from the PC to the iPhone or upload and download other files then you have two choices…1) Open an iTunes account and install the iTunes app on your PC (This setup thru a cloud data base requires internet connection), OR 2) Obtain 3rd party software that installs on the Windows PC and transfer files with an iPhone attached by its USB cable.
How I Decided Which Method
Which method you choose will depend upon your needs. For my needs: I travel to places where there is no internet service, which makes using the GPS/Map apps on the iPhone not feasible. This leaves navigation to map reading. Prior to a trip, while I have high speed Internet access, I download to my laptop all the detailed maps in pdf format that I might need. I can view the saved pdf maps on my laptop to use for navigation when there is no internet access. This is not always an easy task while driving on rough terrain. Since my iPhone will display pdf files, I wanted an app to transfer the pdf maps from the PC to the iPhone and display the map on the iPhone (which rests in a hands-free dash mount). Since I may not have Internet access when I need to transfer files to the iPhone, this transfer must be possible without Internet access (iTunes option will not work). Since the iPhone has limited storage capacity, I’ll need to remove files no longer needed to make space for new map files to be added, but this is a simple delete task. The answer to my needs is a 3rd party software that will transfer the files without Internet access.
The App I Selected
After researching the different apps that claimed the ability to move files, I selected EaseUS MobiMover. Why?
* It works as advertised
* It is free including ad-free, but free version is limited to transferring 20 files per day.
* Works on Windows 7-10, Mac OS 10.10 – 10.15, iPhone 4s- 11 Pro, & iPad mini2 – Pro.
* Moves many different file types.

EaseUS MobiMover Free 5.1.6
Notes:
The transfers will be different from classic Windows Explorer transfers. MobiMover decides which app on the iPhone to transfer that file type to. iPhone files are stored in a folder for the app that will use the file. MobiMover decides where to place the file in the iPhone; thus, which app that will use this file. In my situation the pdfs transferred to the Books app and not to my adobe reader app. Not a problem as the pdf maps displayed perfectly using the Books app.
