I have wake my computer with the mouse but why does it turn on my computer after shutting it down? I tried using different usb slots. nothing works when plugged into usb 2.0. My computer turns on and awakens from sleep when plugged into 3.0. I checked my bios and it says wake the computer but I cannot find anything about powering the computer on. Just turning it off with the power button.

Hi cfslmunchies,
How do you shut down your PC and is it really shut down? There are special keyboards that have a power on key, but to my knowledge there is no mouse function to power on. The only possible way for a mouse to turn on the PC is that the PC is in Sleep or Hibernation mode. In order for the mouse signal to "turn on" the PC, the USB plug must be monitored by the PC to receive the mouse signal when sent. If the PC's USB is monitoring for a signal from the mouse, then it is NOT shut down. In the Power Options of the Control panel there are different schemes what happens when you shut down and even what happens when you push the power button. What you think is shut down may be hibernation or sleep.
If you need help in adjusting those power settings, post back. I will need to know the version of Windows you are using and if it is a laptop or desktop PC.
