Would love to have the option to be notified of activity in threads. Help!

That would be a good option for sure. I contacted ProBoards (the host of this Forum) and their reply:
>>Easiest way would be to have them just bookmark the thread, and make sure their notifications for bookmarks are enabled.<<
Doesn't really seem to offer a solution. Perhaps someone else might offer help?

Perhaps someone else might offer help? I think it is the solution, Jack. Easy to bookmark and the option is to be notified when "a tread you have bookmarked is updated," which means you don't have to participate in the thread to be notified of new activity but merely have to bookmark it. Speaking of which, the notification options smart, instant, daily, weekly, and never. Daily seems good enough to me. Instant will result in too many emails. What do you think "smart" is?

Guess we didn't read far enough. All the details about notifications can be found at www.proboards.com/user-guide/notifications and specifically about "smart"" Smart - only emails you once per item on the forum until you've viewed the item you're being notified about. So if you were notified about a thread you wouldn't receive any further updates about that thread until you visited the forum and viewed the thread.
