Besides recently updating to Firefox 43 then 44, I've recently moved from IE9 to IE10. As I have made these moves I have carefully trolled through all the options and preferences to confirm that they have been retained, and match from one browser to the others.
But suddenly for no visible reason websites that demand cookie placement started refusing to perform various functions, one finally grudgingly putting up a rather snotty notice that if I wanted to use their website I had to have cookies enabled. But I've had that box checked for years. Still, I looked at it in options and it had been unchecked.
I didn't do it, I hadn't even had options open for any reason for weeks, at that point. I checked it, clicked "app;y", clicked "OK", and went away. Ever since every time I have closed then later re-opened Firefox (my default browser)the box has un-checked itself. It is no small nuisance.
So what have I done, or what has it done, and why won't it work any more? Anybody, please?

Hi Blueboxer:
I have been using Waterfox as my Firefox clone for a year or so now, and really like it quite well. I do have Ffx on my system, but use it rarely. The only hitch might be that Waterfox is designed for 64-bit machines, which may not suit your situation.
If that is the case, I know that Cyberdiva uses PaleMoon, another really good Firefox clone. That does work on 34-bit computers.
Perhaps one of these excellent browsers would not give you those Ffx hiccups...

Thanks to my young compatriot. Mozilla has been harassing me for the last several weeks to get the v.45 revision while v.44 help kept telling me it was up to date. But the update notice under "What's new" talks about fixing a bug that changes the cookie preference when the 3rd party box is set to "never". Anyway yesterday when the box appeared I clicked the "update now" box and v.45 downloaded and installed. I know nothing about Waterfox or Fix beyond that the former exists.
I have Pale Moon and like it when I use it. Transferred my bookmarks when I installed it but they no longer match, and I don't want to establish a Mozilla account so I can use sync.
