Hi everyone, I was asked by Yahoo Mail to verify my password and because I was on my iPad as opposed to my laptop, it asked me answer 2 security questions. I apparently got the first one correct but not the second. I retried numerous times and was eventually shut out totally for 12 hours due to repeated failed attempts.
After the 12 hours, the system is no longer asking the security questions but is instead wanting me to change my password.Problem is....they want to send it to an alternate address that is no longer in service. After going thru all the help options I filled out a request form to get some assistance. They asked for a valid email address to contact me and I gave them my iCloud addy. I submitted the form after explaining the issue and up pops a box stating the inquiry was received and a response would be sent to my yahoo addy!!!!!! That's the one I can't get in to for heavens sake.
This account is over 10 years old and has a wealth of emails that I really do not wish to lose, obviously. If anyone has any ideas on how I can get myself out of this mess, I would love to hear from you, ASAP.

On another note, would anyone know if it is possible to somehow save the emails I have in my yahoo account?

Hi thai, There are a several ways to download and save emails from your Yahoo account. 1) Use an email application (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) that has IMAP capabilities. Once the email application is set up to the Yahoo account and connected IMAP protocol; will download all folders (not just the Inbox). All emails will be assessible through that email application you chose. The link below explains how to set up the IMAP and Yahoo with Thunderbird. Yahoo to Thunderbird IMAP2) Use any email program that uses POP3 protocol. Once configured the email program will download what's in the Inbox. You can go to the Yahoo site and move the emails you want to save to the Inbox and download to your email program on your PC. 3) There is a program that will do this for you and costs $29. Link below. I have not used that program so no personal recommendation. Maybe the free version will suit your needs. Yahoo Backup

Sorry to see your troubles, Thai. As I have never used Yahoo mail, I felt rather helpless when I read your cries for help.
For all who use one of the "free" on-line email services, like yahoo, gmail hotmail (now outlook.com) etc., I would recommend that you follow the suggestions that Dr. Card has given Thai above, even if everything is all just fine at present.
Download and install an email reader such as Thunderbird -- there are others, but Thunderbird is well-known. It is a program on your own computer, whose function to manage your email to and from any email service to which you subscribe or use. I, for example, have an email account with my service provider. I also have a couple of gmail accounts, and a very secure one called startmail.
Once I have installed my email client (such as Thunderbird), I would set it up for any of the email accounts that would want to use it with. Perhaps one of my gmail accounts would be for stuff that is not important, so I might not include that one, for example. Once set up, Thunderbird will watch your account, and check in from time-to-time (you set up the times). It will download all your email messages, and you would use Thunderbird to read, reply, forward, delete, store, etc, all on your own computer. You can set Thunderbird to delete the mail from the server (yahoo, gmail or whatever) or leave it there. Now, if ever you have a problem with your online account, at least you will have all the stuff you wanted to keep on already safely on your own computer.
Even if you never have trouble with your on-line account, you will now include your local email folder in your backup scheme. So now, your email is fully under your own control, and fully backed up, ready for the time when disaster will strike.
If anyone is interested, I can also go on a bit about a very useful program called Mailwasher ...

Drcard and Peter, Thanks so much for the responses you have given to my request to save my emails in my yahoo account. I was however hoping for a much, and I do mean much easier method. Setting up new accounts to use with my account is way out of my wheel house in terms of my abilities. IMAP and POP3 protocols are terms that are totally alien...lol.
So thanks, I do appreciate the time you took to reply....Thai
