Apparently, Google has decided to pull the plug on its very popular RSS reader, Google Reader. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably simple alternative for receiving RSS feeds? (For those who don't know, RSS feeds are an easy way to stay up-to-date on websites with changing current, such as a blog.)
I used to use Bloglines, but I just took a look at its current version and didn't like it at all. I've also tried to look at The Old Reader, but as far as I can tell, it wants me to log in using either FB or Google, and I don't want to do that.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

FWIW, I've noticed recent discussions with solutions on this point on both Techsupportalert and the Tech Republic group of newsletters, but unfortunately can't offer bookmarks. But Tech Republic is part of ZDNet and has several newsletters if you can find recent indexing.

Thanks very much, Mark! After I posted my message (and before I saw your response) I took a quick look at Feedly, which has been mentioned from time to time on another forum I read. It looks promising. I see it is mentioned in both of the links you provided, along with The Old Reader. I still see no way to register with The Old Reader except by using a Facebook or Google account, though that seems a bit strange. Anyway, your two lists and one I found on Gizmo's site should help me find a suitable replacement.
BTW, I tried to read your message last night, but I couldn't access it. There seems to have been some problem with the forum, but I had no trouble this morning.
