How long does an email stay current when used maybe once a month?

Hi older1 - not quite sure what your question means. If you mean how long does a webmail account (aside from what your ISP may provide) stay active that is entirely up to the provider. I've discovered Yahoo accounts of my own still active after never using them for years. I know there are others about that are pretty much use it or lose it and get closed after a quite short interval if not regularly active.
I have several email accounts I use primarily for spam diversion purposes. So to keep them active and the sponsors (who are selling ads on the pages, of course) happy, I make them the address for what I'd basically describe as wanted junk mail - flyers from sellers that I like to hear from, working receipt centres for sources I'm suspicious of, certain free software offers, etc.
Does this help solve your problem in any way?

Blueboxer, the reason for the original question is I read a piece about keeping an email and using it for info purposed of a child growing up. Add pic and other items and then turn it over to them when they turn 18. I was going to do it for my great granddaughter.
