A friend just purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre K410-11681H and to his puzzlement cannot find any place to connect to a home phone. The PC apparently has the expected modem and the help feature discusses connecting phones and fax (which he needs the phone for) but omits any info as to where the phone jack might be found. I couldn't locate it either. Surely Lenovo hasn't decided to cut corners and neglect the many purchasers who may still need dial-up connections?
I suggested he go back to the Best Buy Geek Squad and ask them to show him where the phone jack is located. He had already tried that and was told first that he would have to consult the user manual and, when he told them he couldn't find the info, they admitted they didn't know either.
At least it's good to know the geeks are now admitting their shortcomings.

Thanx, Dana
Apparently another case of manufacturers holding prices down by selling less equipment. You'd think Best Buy would have known this and not passed up the opportunity to sell yet another peripheral.

I have not seen a modem in a laptop or desktop you buy at the store in at least 3 years. You can custom order from Dell, Lenovo or HP with the modem though. So they can be had if needed. I suggest your friend buy a PCI modem assuming it has a slot (when I checked online the pictures make it appear to have 3 open slots but sometimes pictures are deceptive and I found no mention in the specs). Tell him good luck. Leland
