New Icon on Taskbar?
Overview
Windows 10 users may see a new icon on their Taskbar…a cloud. This new addition is a Windows gadget that was already part of Windows 10 that the June update turns on. The cloud (also shows current weather conditions such as cloudy and the temp beside the icon) is the News and Interest gadget, which is turned on by the update. What follows are instructions to turn this gadget off and get rid of the icon if you so desire.
Comment: To me, this is another attempt by Microsoft to push the Windows user to use more Microsoft services, and I determine what’s on my Taskbar.
Windows New & Interests Gadget
The News & Interests gadget icon is a cloud with the temp and cloud condition of the user’s location. Hovering the mouse over the icon will cause it to open. Clicking the icon will also open the gadget. The gadget is brief weather, headlines, stock prices, etc. as links to these web pages ran by Microsoft. Check it out and keep it if you desire. Below is how to turn the gadget off.
Remove the News & Interests Icon from the Taskbar:
• Right click the News & Interests icon in the Taskbar, which opens the context menu. • Select News & Interests> , which opens that menu and click Turn off. • The gadget will turn off and remove the icon from the Taskbar. • If you decide to turn it on again, just click the Turn off to turn it back on.
