I am running a Netgear Router and when I try logging in to the site http://192.168.1.1/, after putting in user and password, nothing happens. This is on my Windows 7 computer. Then I tried the same thing on my Windows 10 computer and there I get this message:
400 bad request - This server does not support the operation requested by your client
I am using the Chrome browser on both computers.
I have always been able to log in in the past and do not know where to go from here. I'd appreciate help. Thank you. I am just trying to check if my firmware is up to date. Laverne

Thank you, Jack. I did try all sorts of suggestions before crying for help. After checking out the site you sent, and trying various things again, I am almost convinced that I will have to contact Netgear to get the sign in for the router working again. I did try a Chat session -- but the helper wanted to turn me over to a technician which I couldn't do right at the moment.

I did find the solution on the Internet to not being able to log on to my router site. It said: "Re: 400 bad request - server does not support operation request by your client (solved) Out of sheer frustration, I tried accessing the router using Microsoft Edge (had previous been using Chrome and Firefox) and amazingly it worked!! Not sure why a different browser would make a difference (maybe an extension issue?) Regardless, I was able to access and reconfigure and load new firmware."
Back to me: So, I used the Edge browser to log on -- and after typing the userid and password the Router site opened beautifully! Very strange indeed!! Thanks again, Jack. Nice to know NNT Forum is still here and functioning. It has been a life-saver to me many times. Laverne

Laverne, is it possible to log in on your router with Chrome or Firefox after you have upgraded the firmware of the router?

Hi blacktomcat -- I'm not sure if updating the firmware would then allow Chrome to access the router site. I did see that there IS a firmware update but I did not run it. I'm waiting for a later time, now that I know how to access the site via Edge.
Sorry to be so tardy in replying. Laverne
