List of Command Prompt Commands
Applies to: All versions of Windows since XP.
Overview:
Create a list of the commands accepted by your version of Windows with a general description of what each command will do. Some commands only exist in certain versions of Windows, but the list you create will be for your version of Windows. You can take this further with information for what a specific command does, how to use it, and a list of the switches that modify the actions of the command.
Create a List of Commands
1️⃣ Open a Command Prompt window (WinKey + R, type in cmd, and press Enter key). The Command Prompt window does not need to be opened as Administrator.
2️⃣ At the prompt enter the following command:
help_>D:\Commands.txt
Replace the underscore (_) with a space. Replace D:\ with a PATH to where you want to place this list and leave the file named Commands.txt. If the PATH you select has any spaces in the names of the folders, the entire PATH (including Command.txt) must be placed in quotes.
