A file error has occurred

Hi hugo0298,

The problem lies with either Word installed on your PC OR the document.

Create a new document and save as a .docx file. Reopen, edit, and save the document. If this all goes well then your Word is working OK.

Using Windows Explorer: locate the file, right click, and select Properties.
Under the General tab, under Attributes make sure Read Only is NOT checked.
Next select the Security tab.
Select your user name and look at the permissions box for Modify. If Modify is not checked under Allow column, then that explains why you can't save it. If the you have the permission to Modify and Full Control, then the file is corrupt.

A work around to above:

Open a new document and the document you wish to modify
In the new document set the Font and Font size to that of the document you want to modify.
In the old document place the cursor anywhere in the document and press Ctrl+A (selects everything). Press Ctrl+C to copy what you selected.
In the new document place the cursor at the beginning of the document. Press the Paste icon down arrow in the Ribbon to display the Paste functions. Select Paste Special. In the box that open select Unformatted text and click OK. Now save this document as your newly modified document.
