My question: Can an a/c power adapter for Dell E4100 laptop be used on HP G60 Notebook PC?
My neighbor's HP laptop has a battery which is not charging and I am wondering if I can use my power adapter to see if the adapter is the problem.

Hi laverne,
That depends on the output of the adapters. Written on the adapters for OUTPUT are number and letters to indicate amps, volts, and watts (often are abbreviated to single letters such as A, V, and W following a number). Also sometimes watt values are not included because volts x amps = watts and easy to calculate.
Looking at the possible replacement adapter:
The Voltage must match exactly. The Amperage must be equal to or larger than the original adapter. The Wattage must be equal to or larger than the original adapter.
If the other adapter meets the above criteria, then it will work (providing the maker doesn't use a weird and unique connector that won't fit in the other PC's power jack).

Dana, Thank you for your prompt and clear reply. I find that the two power adapters I have in mind have different voltages (output) so will not try interchanging them. Happy New Year! You are a Godsend. Laverne
