Well, here I am back again, with yet another problem! About 3 weeks ago my Acer laptop would not connect to the Internet. It was not a big concern as I have another, that being a Samsung laptop and an iPad. So now today, the Samsung will not connect!! I write this on my iPad, so I know that the Internet connection is not my problem and I don't know why but I am thinking this is a Win10 issue? Anybody able to help me out? I am a snowbird and 1400 miles away from my computer guy! I need one of these machines to work, so I can print tax forms and monthly statements.
Thanks as always.

Hi thai,
Not sure if your problem is connected, but the recent update has caused different problems with different users and some have reported that the update messed up their internet connection.
First I would check the update history and if the timing of the update matches when the problem occurred, then I would suspect the update. If so, then a reset to a restore point before the update could undo the problem.
If the above timing doesn't match out, then use the network trouble shooter (built into Windows) to help determine the problem. To use the network trouble shooter in Win 10: Enter in the Ask me anything box Network and select Network and Sharing Center. When it opens select Trubleshoot problems. If it can fix the problem it will. If not, post back what it said.

Hi Dana, Good news, bad news. I emailed my computer dude and he instructed me on how to disable drivers that were installed/ enabled in the last update. This fix did indeed fix my Samsung but not my Acer. I did as you instructed and it is telling me there is a problem with my wireless adaptor or access point, BUT, I know this is not an issue, as my iPad and Samsung are functioning fine.

Hi thai,
Since the other two devices can access the Internet, then its not the access point but the adapter. The adapter built into Acer. I suspect that the adapter drivers have become corrupt. See if you can download the most recent driver for this adapter. Usually these drivers are available from the maker's web site (Acer). Download to a flash drive with one of the other working devices and install the driver to the Acer through the flash drive.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi thai, This site may have what you need. Scroll down to Network and Wireless adapters. Select the driver for your adapter. You'll notice that the driver works for Windows 10, 8 & 7 for both 32 and 64 bit systems. Aspire 7750 Drivers

Hi Dana, Not sure why I couldn't find this page but thanks for doing it for me! When I click on download, it asks for a verification code? And....how do I get it to download to a USB instead of the laptop I am working on? Seems like it wants to do it directly on the machine I am on.

Hi thai, The verification code is the same numbers to the left of the box. This is to make sure a human is downloading and not a link from another web site. The download opens the Explorer window of where to save the download. Just Browse to the flash drive to download the file to. It will be a zip file which will have to be unzipped to get the driver file. Driver files are .inf files and some can be .exe files (that contain drivers and software). Alternatively, the Acer website offers the driver too at this web page: Acer Drivers and ManualsSince the Acer can't access the Internet you have to download the driver to the flash drive. Plug the flash drive on one of the other devices with Internet access to download the file. Move the flash drive to the Acer. If needed unzip the download to extract the .inf driver file. Now go into Device Manager and select the adapter and select Update driver. Select that you have the driver file and Browse to the driver file on the flash drive to have it updated or replace the driver that you have now. Notice that the same driver for this adapter works for many different versions of Windows so the driver most likely will be the same driver that was originally installed (which has become corrupt). I gave you the other site rather than the official Acer site because the first site does downloads and the Acer site seems to want to directly install the driver to your Acer device which you can't because it won't connect to the Internet. If the Acer site will allow a download then download from them. Make sure you get the correct model number of your Acer when choosing the driver to download. Let me know if you need further help.

Hi thai, Windows 10 has automatic updates which includes driver updates. Problems occur when Windows 10 is installed as an upgrade on an older machine. The driver update may have coding that is not understood by the hardware of an older device and thus won't work. The older driver on the device that worked for the older version of Windows worked when you upgraded to the newer version of Windows and still will work, but an updated version of that driver may not work with your older hardware. In these situations it is best to prevent Windows from updating that older hardware's driver (old concept...if it isn't broke, then don't fix it). For further reference and others following this thread, the following link explains how to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating a driver on older hardware like the wireless adapter in your case. How to disable automatic device driver updates in Windows 10

Hi Dana, Well now, I always hate to admit this but this issue has proven to be above my level of expertise to tackle. I do want to thank you for trying though and always appreciate you all trying to help this old girl out! I am actually referring the forum to a friend who is having issues and I don't do referrals lightly.
Thanks again ....Thai PS...no doubt will be back soon with yet another problem....lol.
