The temporary locking file (.laccdb in Access 2007 and .ldb in all prior versions) that is created when a user is "in" an Access database, contains info on sharing the database.
I'm wondering if it is possible to read this temporary file if it contains perhaps, the user or machines names (or any useful info) that are currently in the database. My goal is to find out what machines/users are currently "in" my database and display this on my application dashboard.
I know that I could code all of this into a table, etc. etc. but am hoping this file might already contain that data. Any ideas?

Hi stepanmasek,
The Access temp locking file does provide a list of users/machine currently accessing the data base. The file is designed to be read by any plain text reader, but Notepad doesn't work well and shows some strange characters...Open the file in Word and it will be better to view and read.
This file deletes its contents when all users have disconnected from the data base. If a copy of the current list of users and machines connected is desired then save a copy under a different name as a doc file.
