I have received word from Mark's wife, Sally, that Mark has been hospitalized in Palm Springs, CA, with respiratory failure. He was to be released last night into hospice care and taken off all meds except morphine.
Mark has been a dear friend of mine for several years, contributed many items during much of the 18-year publication of Neat Net Tricks, and actively served on the NNT Software Review Panel for most of the Panel's tenure. I know you will join with me in thoughts and prayers for Mark and Sally.

Jack,
I'm devastated to learn about Mark. I knew that he was not in good health, but I had no idea how serious his condition had become. He and I served together on the NNT Software Review Panel for eight years, and he was extremely kind and helpful to me. That probably comes as no surprise to readers of this forum, since Mark always gave generously of his time and expertise to help others on the forum.

It saddens me greatly to learn about Mark's condition. I have benefited immensely in knowing and working with Mark on this forum, NNT Software Review Panel, articles for Neat Net Tricks, and personal communications. I have grown to respect and appreciate Mark's knowledge and dedication to helping others out of the kindness of his heart. Mark and Sally will be in my thoughts and prayers, and may God ease the sufferings these times bring.

Oh my ...this news is so sad to me. When I first joined found this wonderful place to come to address my computer needs, I can still remember how kind and patient Mark was with me, regardless of the fact of how truly inept I was...still am. He never gave up on me and has walked me through many issues over the years, for which I was and am very grateful. I wish for him a release from his pain. Big hugs drMark.....Thai

Hello Jack:
I am deeply saddened by the news of Mark's death. Like so many others have said, Mark was generous with his time, and endlessly patient to all who came to the NNT forums to ask their questions and share their experiences. And as all who subscribed to the NNT newsletters know, Mark was generous there also, with his frequent contributions, articles and the mini program evaluations that he had discovered and wanted to pass on to the rest of us
When I first joined the Software Panel, Mark welcomed and encouraged me. Through our collaboration on the Panel, Mark became a friend -- one who I had never met face-to-face, but with whom I was able to share conversations on many topics, as friends do. The world is a bit more empty with his passing.
Please send my condolences to Sally and Mark's family. They are in our hearts and prayers.
Peter

What a devastating and catastrophic loss to the Board and every individual on it. Dr. Mark was an anchor and mainstay to this board, and his patient, thought, and generous participation has been foundational to the success of the whole Forum. Few members will not have benefited from his prompt and wise counsel, and his generous sharing of his mighty expertise.
Our deepest condolences to his widow and family as Mark goes to his well-earned rest.
