Hi guys,
I've accidently formatted my PC with lots of PST files which were on drive c:. I REALLY need to recover them ASAP.
Which tools can I run in order to recover those files?
I've already tried the following:
1) Recover my files 5.x - both full partition recovery and PST file
2) Hetman Partition Recovery
Would highly appreciate your input.
Thanks!

Hi fitzgerald, FIRST - do not use the drive any more and make sure it is unplugged. The more you use it the more the old data on it will be replaced by new data and truely lost. There is a good program that will do this for you. It's free to try - it will recover 2 GB of data and require you to purchase the program for $70 to recover any more. It is designed to recover data after a formatting (formatting only replaces the MFT and leaves all prior data there). This free trial will let you know if the program will work in your situation. The link is: EaseUS Data Recovery WizardIf possible you need to install the program on another PC and hook up the formatted drive as a secondary or external drive to allow the program running on the good PC to recover data from the formatted drive. Suggestion: May be a good time to think about a backing up plan to prevent loss from future unexpected disasters.

What happened to your backups??? Remove the disk from the PC and connect it to another PC running Windows, then scan it using Outlook Recovery Toolbox. If your files are listed, pay for and register the utility, so you can copy them off. Outlook Recovery Toolbox is by far the best recovery utility available. It worked for me when I accidentally clicked format on the drive that I am not supposed to and was too late. www.outlookrecovery.oemailrecovery.com/If your files aren't found, your only option is to send the disk to a professional recovery agency like Gillware (or a company located close to you). This will be expensive, but they usually only charge you if the recovery is successful.

Dr Card's suggestions are always excellent. But just in case you want another option, I would suggest that you check out Stellar Data Recovery, at www.stellarinfo.com/ . I got myself into trouble a few years ago, when a drive which was not backed-up (bang head on brick wall, multiple times!! and again ...) crashed, burned out, died, totally non-functional, not even visible to Windows. As it contained a large amount of work-related data, I was in rather serious do-do. Several hours of searching on the Internet, and I happened across Stella. I know nothing about it, it was expensive, but I had to do something. To my utter astonishment, it got almost everything, and I hurriedly had it written to another drive. I needed some help, but their support at the time was available on Skype. Luckily so, as they were in India. They were helpful, answered my questions, and all came out well in the end. This was a number of years ago, and I have fortunately not yet had to repeat the experience. So I cannot report fairly on their current support or current versions of their programs. But my bacon was saved on that occasion. Now, I do have a daily backup of all my data, using three different programs, sent to three different locations. And I keep a paid-up copy of the Stellar program, just in case.
