I am looking for a spell check that sits running in the computer so if you want to look at a word you would click CTL and the Word. I would not have to leave the page I am on.
Thank you

Hi Older: I have tried out several spell check programs, and the one that I like the best is "Spell Check Anywhere." I have it load when my computer boots up, and with a hotkey shortcut, I can call it up it in any program that I am using. Many programs have their own spell-checker, so you have to keep on adding the same "new" words into the dictionary of each program. As a Canadian, I find that I often have to add the Canadian spellings (e.g. colour) into all those dictionaries over and over again. Spell Check anywhere, by the way, has a Canadian Dictionary, along with several other versions of English, medical and legal dictionaries and about a dozen other languages -- all available with a right-click on the SPA icon in the System Tray. With Spell Check Anywhere, I highlight the text that I want to check, and press a hotkey (which I can choose) to start. Or, if you prefer, you can have an SCA icon appear in the header of your programs. All the text is copied into the clipboard, then we go through the process that we all know so well. In addition to the usual spelling suggestions, there are also a Dictionary and a Thesaurus. You can highlight any word in the list of suggestions for an immediate definition of that word or list of its synonyms. Or highlight one word in your text, press the hotkey, and get spell-check, definitions or synonyms. The program keeps the all the text formatting -- bold, font sizes, etc. It does not change it into one generic text style, which sometimes happens with other programs. It is a shareware program with a free trial period. I found it worth supporting the developer and paid for it. Support is from the developer himself. I have not required help for quite a long time, so I cannot guarantee how good it is at present. But when I needed assistance, he usually replied within a day or so, and was very helpful, even if the question required a number of email exchanges to resolve. While writing this reply to your question, I decided to go to the SPA website. There have been some upgrades and new versions since I last looked. So the program continues to be developed, and is compatible with the new varieties of Windows. You will find it here: www.spellcheckanywhere.com/I hope that helps.

There is a autohotkey script for spell checking called autocorrect.ahk. It uses wikipedia's lists of misspelled words, OpenOffice autocorrect list, Microsoft Office autocorrect list. The list can be changed or added to using a hotkey that opens a gui window.
