Not sure whether there is anyone on this Forum who play Scrabble (by Hasbro) on iPad, but in case:
For the last several days I've been unable to connect with Origins re game statistics and other features. I see now where their technical support says this is a permanent situation with all those running IOS 5.1.1, the latest OS for the first generation iPad.

If you like scrabble, another one you could try is Wordfeud As I indicated, the problem is that the 1st generation iPad only has OS 5.1.1 and apparently there is no plan for Apple to provide a later IOS, thus the Origin sign on for Scrabble (Hasbro) ceases to exist. I can't use the recommended Wordfeud, somewhat related to Scrabble, on the iPad because OS 7.0 or higher is required. I can install it on my iPhone 5 because it has IOS 8.1, but the tiny screen leaves a lot to be desired with such an app.

Jack, I use Classic Words Plus on Android, but it and its free alternative Classic Words Solo are also available on iOS. According to something I read, you simply need iOS 5.1 or higher, and it sounds like you've got that. I am absolutely crazy about this program! It's very much like regular Scrabble--same board configuration, same point system, same everything, as far as I can tell. I started with the free version and then moved to Classic Words Plus, partly to get rid of the ads but mostly to support the developer. I tend to play against the program, and most of its features do not even require an Internet connection, so I can play it anywhere. One feature I especially like (I'm not sure whether it's available in the free version--it was added after I had moved to Plus) is the Teacher. After I play a move, Teacher will tell me either that I'd made the best possible move or (more often) that I could have played XXXXX for more points. The more I use this feature, the more I like it. Anyway, this is my very favorite addiction app . If you have any questions about it, let me know. I love it!

Just a short PS to my posting about Classic Words. I have it on both my Nexus 7 tablet and my phone. It's obviously bigger on the tablet, but I have no problem reading it on the phone. The board and the letters are quite clear (with reading glasses, of course, but these days I need them for just about everything that's not at a distance). You could try Classic Words Solo--it's free--and see how you like it. If you do, you may want to pay the relatively small amount to upgrade to Plus.

According to something I read, you simply need iOS 5.1 or higher, and it sounds like you've got that. I just bought Kindle Fire 7 with the Android platform and checked out Classic Words Pro. Seems it does not play randomly with others as does the Hasbro Scrabble that I'm accustomed to. It only plays against the computer or a friend who is sitting next to you (you pass the tablet back and forth to play.) So, I'll continue to explore other Scrabble options that the Kindle offers. I, too, don't mind paying a few bucks to support developers but I want a game (or any other app) to do what I want and without networking, Classic Words is a no-buy for me.

Cyberdiva Said: OK, I didn't know that you wanted to play randomly with other people. That's exactly what I didn't want. ..... So the very things you want are the ones I wanted to avoid!
Jack replied: Add to that another consideration: The Origins network has become very iffy of late and is down more than its up. So I reconsidered and "sprung" for the Classic Words Plus, although there's something cold about playing just against the computer.
Thanks for the tip.
