There is no AV's that are 100% but there are other layers of security that one can use.It seem to me that the ones getting infected have let the infection come in with open arms.There is add ons like No script, ghostery,Malwarebyte,and a good firewall.If you open every spam emails or attachment,your going to get hit. Doesn't matter what you use. No I would not use my PC without at least a good AV and a router or a good firewall.The only real protection is the person behind the keyboard. It all boils down to don't go looking for trouble.

And I believe that was the point: that the best defense is still commonsense. If you rely only and solely on any one piece of security software you are going to get bitten.
