I have just got hold of an asus F2A85-M PC with window 7 home premium. Here's the problem, every once in a while when I wake it from sleep the door for the dvd player will open 1/4 inch and close. Then everything is normal. What could be causing this to happen. It could be a short but what does it have to do with sleep mode.

Hi marck,
I wonder what is (solved) that you have in the name of this thread.
That being said, there are several things that can cause what you describe.
My first choice is a software issue since this happens from sleep mode and not upon boot up. The most probable is the CD drive's driver. I would try to update that driver and see if that fixes it. Next is software that monitors the CD drive could cause this.
Hardware failure is a possible cause as these drives can do some really weird things as they slowly die.
Why when coming out of sleep mode? Sleep mode actually turns off power to the drive and upon waking powers up the drive. The drive door has a switch that controls the door. Something, software or electrical is triggering that door switch.
One key observation would be if after this quick open close, does the drive motor run like it is trying to read a disk? If not, then hardware is the cause. If yes, then it could software and a bad check drive command or still can be hardware.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to get back.Long story. Here is how I solved it.I tried all the usual ,looking the possible bad drivers, software.shorts and no luck.It turned to a simple speck of dust or dirt caught between the eject button and the casing.Got it out with a toothpick. It was holding the switch, under the right condition it would make the door open and close.Everything is just great now,but took me 3 days to figure it out.had this PC apart several time but never found anything until I took the faceplate of.
