I bought a refurbished Dell Dimenion 8200 series three years ago. About a month ago I started getting alerts at boot-up that the system battery was low. I don't want to change it. Can it be recharged. How long can use my PC. Thanks.

Hi boyce!
According tp DELL tech support, this has been an issue with Dimension 8200, 8250, 8300, and XPS. Problem is usually caused by the CMOS battery but they added that this issue is caused by the grounding protection of certain surge protectors. This has been seen mainly with the Belkin Surge Master power strip but other surge protectors are known to cause this same error message. If, however, it is your CMOS battery, follow these instructions to replace: To replace it, you need to open your computer (while it is powered off, and unplugged) and remove the battery. You should be able to remove it with a paper clip or a small flat head screwdriver.
Once you've removed the battery, take it to the jewelry section of your local Wal-Mart and ask them for another battery just like the one you have. It should cost two or three dollars. Once you have the new battery, simply put it back in the spot where you removed the old battery from and boot up your computer.
As a warning, you may need to reset the time in your BIOS clock. Depending on the manufacturer and version of your BIOS, it may prompt you the first time you boot up your computer. You may also press F2 when your computer is booting to enter the Setup Utility (BIOS settings) where you will be able to manually change/update the date and time yourself.
