This piece of file transfer software (Dukto R6) is one of the best file transfer products for home networks that I have tried. Question: Do you Jack, or the Neat Net Tricks team actually try the software before placing it in the newsletter?

Do you Jack, or the Neat Net Tricks team actually try the software before placing it in the newsletter? I still have to remind some folks that I'm a staff of one and to personally try more than 6,000 programs mentioned in NNT wouldn' t leave much sleep time. All reviewed programs are tried - thoroughly - by the reviewers and a good percentage of the others, but the answer to your question is no. That's why the disclaimer in every NNT issue. Regrettably, there are no guarantees in life.

Well I'm here to tell you that I've downloaded many of Jack's recommended programs and found every single one to perform exactly as promised.
One that I particularly found useful was one that indicated with a beep or musical tone whenever the caps lock or num lock keys were activated. Alas, I lost this program some time ago when I had to re-format my hard drive.

You may be thinking of the feature that's already in your PC, not requiring yet another piece of software:
You may have already opted for PC beep when you inadvertently press the Caps Lock key. That's a handy feature when you have fat fingers like me. If you haven't enabled this, it simply requires selecting Start|Settings|Control Panel (or, for Windows XP, just Start|Control Panel). Then, open Accessibility Options select the Keyboard tab and tick "Use ToggleKeys". But go a step beyond that for visual warnings as well. While in Accessibility Options, select the Sound tab and tick "Use SoundSentry". Click on the Settings button and scroll to "Flash active window". Back out with "OK" and you will have a visual warning as well, not only for the Caps Lock key, but the Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys as well.
