Older, does this mean you intend to leave your home computer on while you're away?

I was going to but now you have me thinking what could happen. What is the downside to leaving it on? What is the difference to leaving it on 24 hours if I am home. Or should I turn it off at night?

What programs are you using that you would need to leave your pc on when you are away?? Email, facebook, tweeter, all of these can be reached from anywhere any time. All you need is your passwords. I would personally turn it off if I was leaving for any amount of time.Save on the power usage,I would even go as far as unplugging it in case of power surges. Its all up to you.

And you might read the article in NNT Premium 292, "To Turn Off Or Not To Turn Off."

Jack, thank you for the info. Now just one question, if my system is turned off can I still get to my email and facebook as long as I have passwords.

Email should be held on the server until your return; or, depending on what ISP you have, you can likely access your email through the ISP web site with your username and password. Accessing Facebook can be done from any computer, just as any other Web site, with your login and password.

If you are using gmail or one of the on-line mail services, you can log on to it from any computer, with your username and password. You want to sure to clear the cache of the browser you are using, though, so that the logon information is not left on the computer you are using.
