Create a Shortcut To Restart to BIOS
Getting into the BIOS settings on a Windows 10 PC can be a hassle, especially with different keys for different makes of PCs as well as the timing when such keys should be pressed during the reboot process. The tip below takes care of all those difficulties by creating a shortcut that will restart the PC directly into the BIOS menu.
Create the Shortcut
o Right click a blank area on the Desktop and select New > Shortcut which will open the shortcut wizard.
o In the Type the location of the item: box, enter the following command:
Shutdown_/r_/fw_/t_0
Replace each underscore (_) in the above command with a space. The 0 at the end of the command is the number zero.
o Click Next to go to the next page
o Name the shortcut Restart To BIOS and click the Finish button.
o You can keep the shortcut on the Desktop or move it to another location.
Use the Shortcut
o The shortcut must run with Administrator’s privileges for the command to work.
o Right click the shortcut and select Run as administrator which will cause a UAC box to open asking to allow this command to run. Answer Yes to this and the PC will shutdown and restart to the BIOS menu.
PS: You can make this shortcut work with just a single click and remove the steps of right clicking and selecting Run as administrator, waiting for the UAC box to open, having to click Yes, and then have UAC accept your answer and run the command. Create a bat file that has the shutdown command used to make the shortcut location. Create a Task (Task Scheduler) with "Highest privileges" and Run on Demand. Create a shortcut to that task. Click the shortcut to the task once and it will run the bat file with administrator privileges without any UAC window opening.
