Create a Shortcut for Any Windows 10 App
What
Instructions on how to create a shortcut for any app running on Windows 10. This include the Windows Apps that don’t have a normal PATH address and are kept in a folder that is not accessible to the user.
Why
Not all apps will be listed in the Start Menu and a shortcut to such apps makes their use easier. For shortcuts on the Desktop you can create keyboard shortcuts to use the shortcut to open the app. You can create a folder to place all these shortcuts you make to the apps you use the most and place it on the Taskbar as a toolbar making any of those apps only two clicks to open (one to expand the toolbar and one on the shortcut from the list to open that app)
How
o Open a Run box (WinKey + R).
o Type in Shell:Appsfolder and press the Enter key.
o This will open the File Explorer’s Application folder which list every application in alphabetical order that is installed on this Windows PC.
o Place the mouse pointer on the app you want to make a shortcut for and right click.
o From the context menu that opens select Create shortcut which will cause a warning window to open stating that a shortcut cannot be created in this folder and will ask to place the created shortcut on the Desktop.
o Click Yes and the shortcut will be added to your Desktop.
You can move the shortcut to another folder and it will still open the app that it is a shortcut for. If you desire to create a keyboard shortcut to open this app, the shortcut must be left on the Desktop.
You can place these shortcuts you make to your most used apps in a folder. You can add a new Toolbar to the Taskbar which will be this folder of these shortcuts. This folder’s name will appear on the Taskbar followed by a double right arrow (≫). One click of the ≫ and the list of shortcuts in that folder will appear. One click on the shortcut for the app you want open and that app will open and the Toolbar list will close.
