Hi DrCard
I use a task manager replacement called "process hacker" it does all that the power shell does (above) in real time. It also has options to do a "whois" on a the remote address by right clicking on the foreign address and to take you directly to the process in its process tab. It can do a trace route to the address and also ping the address. Besides the network tab that shows all connections it also has a process tab that displays all current processes and their respective resource usage and a services tab for services that displays the status of services and their start type.

Hello Steve 04, Sorry to jump in here but your marvelous discussion of "process hacker" led me to look for it. I did find it and downloaded the setup.exe file but when trying to open it I received two error messages, even trying to run it as Administrator. The first was classically mindless: "The parameter is incorrect" The second (as Administrator)was: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Any ideas on what to do at this point? Thanks for any insights and guidance you can provide.

Hi Lotm, I'm not sure what is going on. I'm running it on windows 7 but did have on XP as well. I don't recall having problems installing it, however it has been a long time since I did. The site is: processhacker.sourceforge.ioIt has a FAQ and a forum, you probably could find the solution there. It does mention the need for windows 10 SDK in the FAQ if you are running windows 10.
