Monthly List of Updates Microsoft has issued for Win XP Pro or may be it was Win XP

Within, the last two weeks , I was searching Microsoft and came across the
October 2013 Monthly List of Updates on a page that listed other Lists o Monthly
Updates by Month , but I forgot to add it to my bookmarks or otherwise
save the url and although I try to go through this search again , I cannot find it.
Here is the List that I copied and pasted into word, but I would like to make
copies of other months lists of updates, but can no long find these pages.
Can some one post the name of the Web Site, or how I get there or the
url's themselves. Any help would be apprciated. Here what Oct. 2013

I have attached the Web Site that I copies into word and that will show exactly how it looked for the October 2013 list and I did look
around a little into September 2013 and August 2013 Lists, but I forgot to keep the URL and how to get back there and for the life of me

Hi Iri41,

As Marck suggested, go to Windows Updates
update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

On the left, click "Review Your Update History"

Highlight and copy the updates you want in your list.
Open MS Word -- use Paste Special (so as not to get the links) > and choose "unformatted text" for the Paste.

Note that you only see 10 updates at a time so you may have to do multiple Copy and Paste procedures.

Mark and Laverne, I have a legitimate copy of Win XP Pro, Sp/3 which I have installed on a new tower, I am an 80 year old coger that doesn't want nor need to update beyond the OS that I have used, know and am familiar with. My goal is
to download and save all the Security Updates since the XP/3 so I will have them when next spring rolls around and
you can't find anything about XP on Microsoft Web Site should I have to completely reinstall the OS. I do not
let Microsoft Update automatically, never have, I always try to download and save the update for future use. Of course
now that I have XP Pro and I had to delete all the Home Edition Updates. Anyway, this was a area of web pages on
Microsoft where the updates were listed by month , which I published the list for October 2013 which I pasted in Word
Document, But you caN look at the word document that I uploaded and that was how it looked on the Web Page. For the life of me I cannot get back there.

I GUESS I STAND CORRECTED, JACK TEEMS SAYS THAT NEAT NET TRICKS HAS BEEN AROUND FOR ONLY 17 YEARS, I AM SURE
I DID NOT STUMBLE ACROSS IT THE FIRST YEAR OR SO, BUT PROBABLY GOT THERE FROM A REFERAL FROM THAT OTHER
OLD DEFUNCT COMPUTER TECH SITE LIKE LOCKERGNOME. ANYWAY IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME.

I honestly think that if you are saving all your updates for next year,and you haven't had any problems yet,then it probably isn't going to make much of any kind of an impact on your system next year.The updates are designed for prevention now with new treats coming everyday.There is going to be all kinds of different ones next year.I am just wondering of what use they will be ? Sooner or later you will have to upgrade,and there is nothing different about XP that windows 7 doesn't have only better.
In any case best of luck to you and keep it up for another 80 years.After 25 years on here you probably know more now than I ever will.

I should jump in here to explain that anyone on this Forum is ranked as a "New Member" if he/she has posted fewer than 25 times. mzarck, I fear you may be giving iri41 a bit of a bum steer. My understanding is that Microsoft issues updates to deal with threats as soon as they can be discovered, captured, analyzed and a protection worked out. But here's the weasel: the threat keeps poking around the internet for whatever time unit you find credible, and until you install that update you are at risk. Put an update in as soon as you get it and some expert on something like Tech Republic or Windows Secrets says it's OK.

Some updates are cumulative, some modify previous updates, some supplant them - they are all interrelated in ways only Redmond knows for sure. My guess is the only prudent strategy in the case is to do what Microsoft recommends and hope for the best.

And fyi iri, I'm an old (83) curmudgeon who has succumbed to the siren call of updating eventually for every version of Windows since 3.1; our home currently houses two Win7 laptops, two XP laptops, one XP desktop and a couple of historic computers. My wife till thinks her Amiga 3.9 has the nicest OS yet, but does deem Win7 the preferable version of Windows. I think XP was much better overall. but then I am more inclined to tamper with it. I do have Windows8 on disc and will download 8.1, but have no interest in installing it; I just got it super-cheap and decided it might increase the saleability of my machine for my estate should 8 still be current when I kick off. Meanwhile I'm toying with Linux.....

Marck - I read what you said but maybe I misunderstood what you meant by it.

What I'm suggesting is that once something gets loose on the internet - including something nasty - it never truly goes away. Therefore an update issued to respond to it is potentially useful and valid until another update permanently removes the potential vulnerability.

Even when someone complains of an overfull hard disc, I've never heard anyone suggesting that deleting "outmoded" updates might be helpful, so I've figured they are still useful.

But if I am wrong and deleting them is OK I suspect many folks might find that information useful.

What you don't know won't hurt you as much as what you do know that ain't so.

What older updates that can be deleted (and will not be needed again) depends on the last major update (the ones labeled SP). Such major updates contains all the prior updates. On XP that was SP3. Look at the release date of SP3 and any updates since that date should be kept.

If you so desire I can direct you to a web site that explains how to make a slipstream install DVD. This type of Windows install disk installs the update while installing Windows. I have not done this because I believe in back up rather than reinstall, but does require the knowledge of burning ISO files.

Don't know from your description if it is the exact page, but the first is a list of all security bulletins which can be filtered by product (WinXP, Office, IE, etc) and date range. This is a good page to bookmark. Each security bulletin will have links for the update to fix the problem. The second is a list of all updates released by MS in 2013.

Thanks for those two sites, but no not quite what I am re-looking for, although they are helpful. I am beginning to
think that the site that I am re-looking for does not exist, but I do have a copy of Monthly List of Updates for October
2013 which I copied and then pasted into a word document and which I tried to list under my original posting. Its too bad that I cannot upload it was it appeared on the webpage and which shows up in my word document, but it is a listing
of the actual updates with the KB Idenification at the end, the next column shows date released and the last column
shows "Automactic Update. and as I said I looked at the same list for August and July 2013 but did not make copies of them
